About Christy Lovenduski

Becoming involved in music was hardly a choice for Christy as both of her parents are music educators! Her musical career began at the age of 5 with piano lessons. In the 4th grade, Christy picked up the saxophone and hasn't stopped playing since! Throughout middle school and high school, Christy was involved with band, jazz band, chorus, minni-singers, and musicals. She was the field commander of her high school marching band and earned the John Phillip Sousa award. Christy was also a national finalist in the Music Teacher's National Association High School Woodwind Competition held in Los Angeles, California.

Christy chose Truman State University in Kirksville, MO as the next place to continue her musical career. While at Truman, Christy studied with Dr. Randall Smith, Professor of Saxophone. She also studied piano with Dr. Janice Saffir, clarinet with Dr. Richard Weerts, and flute. Christy was involved in the marching band, jazz band, and the Wind Symphony (Truman State University's top band). She held the position of principal saxophonist for three years and performed a solo with the Truman State University Wind Symphony.

Following graduation from Truman State University, Christy began a Masters in Saxophone Performance at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She was privileged to study with Debra Richtmeyer. The semester spent at the University of Illinois was one of the most thrilling musical experiences of Mrs. Lovenduski's musical career. However, she felt the calling to be a music educator and returned to Truman State University where she finished her Masters of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Music.

Variety is the spice of life! Mrs. Lovenduski has several non-music interests which keep her busy.
Lovenduski Show Horses- Mrs. Lovenduski, along with her husband, operate Lovenduski Show Horses. Quality American Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses are raised and shown at the highest level of competition.
